PROPERTY LOT SHEET

Biography: Clara and Teddy Wolfard moved from Chicago to Rochester, NY, in 1940 and established an art gallery, at that time the city’s only one, on Spring Street in the old Third Ward. Teddy was Dutch and had studied art in Europe. In 1954 The Wolfard’s Galleries of Fine Arts moved into a former carriage house they renovated at Nine South Goodman Street. There they created a beautiful haven of gardens, old world atmosphere and art. Teddy and Clara made periodic trips to Europe, Scandinavia and Mexico to acquire paintings and artwork directly from artists to sell in their store. The Wolfards retired and closed their shop in 1980.

After retirement they resided at Valley Manor on East Avenue. Teddy died in 1994 at the age of 94. Clara died in 2009 at the age of 99. The Reynolds Auction Co. has been commissioned to sell the complete Wolfard Estate, and their exclusive personal collection.
